Program Description
iBT TOEFL® Prep Program
Students can prepare for the new, demanding iBT TOEFL® test and get the score they need with the ELS iBT TOEFL® Prep Program. The new Internet based (iBT) TOEFL ® test requires students to answer questions related to speaking, listening, reading and writing. The ELS TOEFL® Prep Program provides practice in integrated reading and listening skills, writing and speaking, as well as test-taking strategies to help increase the student’s TOEFL® score. This program is offered at the 6 locations in the chart above. The program consists of three unique one-session modules of instructions, with four weeks of instruction per module. Students may register for one, two or all three modules. An ELS Level 106 (High Intermediate) minimum proficiency is required.

Business English :
The Business English Program helps business professionals to communicate confidently, accurately and effectively in English-speaking business situations. The ELS Business English program covers the following skills: giving presentations, participating in meetings, negotiating agreements, explaining and defining positions, and using business vocabulary and idiomatic expressions in work-related conversation. Students also practice important writing skills such as reporting and summarizing. The Business English Program is offered year-round at five select locations: Chicago, Houston, Miami Shores, New York-Riverdale and San Diego.
The program consists of three unique one-session modules of instructions, with four weeks of instruction per module. Students may register for one, two or all three modules. An ELS Level 106 (High Intermediate) minimum proficiency is required.

American Conversation Partnerships Many ELS locations will assist in arranging after-class conversation partnerships between ELS students and American students. This gives students the chance to practice their conversational skills with a native speaker while making new friends.
Musical Instrument, Voice or Dance Lessons After arrival at ELS/Nashville, ELS can help a student to arrange for musical instrument, voice or dance lessons with faculty or qualified students.
Bridge Program at Concordia University (Portland only) The Bridge Program at Concordia University in Portland allows international students to enroll in university courses (up to five units per semester) at Concordia University while taking Semi-Intensive English classes with ELS/Portland. Participants need to have successfully completed ELS level 109 or submit a TOEFL score of 480PB/157CBT.
Certificate Program Options (as part of the Intensive English Program) After arrival at select ELS locations, students in high intermediate levels and above may have the chance to take a certificate program in conjunction with their English studies. Certificate programs are mostly focused on Business, International Relations, Communications, and/or Volunteerism.
Credit for ELS Intensive Completion & University Partner Tuition Discounts After completion of the full ELS Intensive English Program qualified students may receive credit for ELS and/or tuition discounts at select host universities and colleges, once they matriculate.
College Class Visits, Auditing or Concurrent Enrollment Many ELS host or partner universities will allow ELS Intensive students (in key levels) to visit one or more college classes, depending on professor approval.
